Freedom of the City

I had the pleasure of being MC at the Freedom of the City Ceremony in the Round Room at the Mansion House last Saturday night (28th February 2015) where the Lord Mayor bestowed the honours on Brother Kevin Crowley and Mr. Johnny Giles in recognition of their work in both social justice and sport. Br. Kevin has been providing food for people in need for nearly 50 years at the Capuchin Centre in Bow Street and Johnny Giles has had a distinguished football career, has 59 caps for Ireland and in 2003 won the UEFA’s Jubilee Award which named him best Irish Player of the past 50 years. Brother Kevin celebrated his 80 Birthday recently and we presented him with a surprise Birthday cake on the night.
