Increased fines for cars blocking footpaths, cycle lanes and bus lanes.

Councillor Heney wishes to advise constituents that new government regulations doubling the fixed charge penalty for motorists caught parking on footpaths, cycle tracks and bus lanes come into effect today. Fines for these offences have been increased from €40 to €80. The increase in fines aims to encourage more considerate behaviour by motorists and safeguard space for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
